Press Release
December 2006 : Local Companies Can Profit From Going Green
More and more Sheffield companies are “going green” to help cut carbon emissions and combat climate change. But not all of them are aware of the financial incentives available to help them introduce environmentally friendly practices into their businesses.
This is the opinion Wingfield Slater, one of the city’s leading accountants and business advisers. Wingfield Slater has now produced a list of tax savings and other incentives available to all companies who want to become more energy efficient.
Their guide points out that not only will “going green” help the planet, but it will also make a significant contribution to cutting a company’s energy costs. The guide is contained within Wingfield Slater’s Financial Monitor advisory newsletter which is emailed to Wingfield Slater clients and is also available for anyone to download from its website, www.wingfieldslater.co.uk
Wingfield Slater’s guide helps identify which cars qualify for tax deductions against profits and attract the least road tax. By using the guide you can discover whether expenditure on boilers, air conditioning, refrigeration display cabinets and lighting controls will qualify for 100 per cent write down against tax and profits. It points companies in the direction of suppliers of energy efficient equipment that qualifies for enhanced capital allowances.
The guide also shows how some companies that own land or buildings can get 150 per cent deductions if they need to carry out clean ups of contaminated land.
Said Wingfield Slater tax partner, Peter Newsam : “With the publication of the Stern Review, and the increasing emphasis on the need to combat climate change, companies now really want to become more environmentally responsible. Our guide is designed to show that there is a whole range of tax savings to be made, and other incentives, to help them meet their environmental obligations.”
The Wingfield Slater Financial Monitor newsletter also contains business advice on company law reform, tax deductible gifts to staff, and twenty ways to take cash from your business and save tax.
